About
Central Valley Film
March, 2023

The Central Valley is no stranger to filmmakers, and has a rich history in film and the arts. However, when my husband Spider Santana and I moved to Modesto in 2017, there was no film group or Meetup or community that we could find. So, in 2018, we created The Central Valley Filmmaker Meetup, and began meeting some wonderful and talented aspiring filmmakers in our community.
The very next year, Andrew Wong launched the first 48 Hour Film Competition for Modesto in collaboration with The State Theater, and then we really saw the film community come together! Since then, more and more developments and game-changing individuals have added to this rapidly growing community, and it truly feels like an exciting time to be a filmmaker in the Central Valley.

While there is a lot of talent in our area, it isn't always easy to find when you need it-- especially in an art as collaborative as filmmaking. One of our main goals is to develop (and constantly update) a directory of our local filmmakers, crew, talent, etc. so that when our filmmakers need them, they have a place to look.

Join us, collaborate, share, learn, and make films.
